World Prematurity Awareness Day

17 November marks World Prematurity Awareness Day and the North East and North Cumbria Preterm Birth Group which is part of the Maternity Clinical Network is launching a campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of preterm labour (before 37 weeks).

Data in our ICB tells us that often women present quite late after experiencing symptoms. It’s vital that women contact their local maternity service as soon as possible as there is a range of treatment options which can help them and their baby. The maternity services can also ensure they are in the right place to give birth based on their needs. birth.

We have developed a range of resources about the signs and treatments available, and there are stories from women who have experienced preterm birth.
