Immunisations in Pregnancy
The pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccine is recommended in every pregnancy, from 16 weeks. Most Trusts will offer this around the 20 week scan. This vaccine is to help protect your baby from whooping cough until they can receive their first set of vaccines at two months old. More information can be found on the NHS website here
The flu vaccination is also recommended in pregnancy during the flu season (September to March). This is to protect you, as pregnant women are known to experience worse complications in pregnancy. More information can be found here
Ask your Community Midwife if you have not been offered these vaccines.
